Tire sealer can go scratch

Post by maximus » Thu May 25, 2017 10:41 am

Trying to get my dad's bike back on the road, I inherited it after he passed a few years ago. The rear tire wouldn't hold air and it turned out the whole bead was leaking. After pulling the wheel off and the tire off the rim I was bummed to find this mess.

A pellet of the stuff even formed and was rolling around. About the size of my thumb.

Word to the wise, if you put this stuff in, get the tire repaired or replaced as soon as you can. It seems to be corrosive. I have new tires coming now, shame because these are pretty new. I don't know if it affects the rubber but I don't get the warm-n-fuzzies knowing that they have been marinating for a few years.
